Maybe you have heard someone say, “If you don’t like the weather in Michigan, just wait 24 hours, and it will change.” Living in Michigan for the past 25 years, I have discovered that statement to be true – and especially true these last few months. Since January 1, 2017, we have experienced temperatures from below freezing to an almost balmy 60+ degrees. Just try to figure it out or even get out the right wardrobe! What a challenge!
I am so thankful that God is not like that. God does not go from one extreme to another. God is dependable, and His character is steady and secure. Let me remind you of a few consistent things about God:
His Love never Fails – Romans 8:31-39
He never Leaves us nor Forsakes us – Hebrews 13:5
He is always ready to Forgive – I John 1:9
He is Holy – I Peter 1:16
His Word, the Bible, is True – II Timothy 3:16-17
His Grace is sufficient – II Corinthians 12:9
He is a Constant Friend – Proverbs 18:24
God loved us and sent His Son to die for us. It was that act of Love that allows us to have a relationship with Him as we believe in Jesus as our Personal Savior (Romans 10:9-10, 13). And in the relationship of Heavenly Father and His Children, God remains consistent. In fact, the Bible says, “Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
So, the next time you are confused by the weather in Michigan, let me encourage you to focus on the One who is consistent.
Pastor Tom – Phil 3:14
