Tests are not my favorite thing to do – especially “pop” quizzes. Being asked to answer questions and repeat material is not easy for me. In fact, tests bring me great anxiety and sometimes, even pain. Tests are just plain hard. I have never liked tests, and I doubt I ever will.

But what I have discovered is that life is full of tests. Many are those dreaded “pop” quizzes. Things do not go as planned or expected, and I often run into potholes that rattle me to the core and try to throw me off track. These are the tests that come out of nowhere and jump in front of me; and I have to respond without being prepared. At times in my life, while in the midst of a test, I have wondered what God was trying to do – how God was going to work – or even if God was there or if He cared.

test101I recently came across the thought on this graphic which has really impacted me:

WOW!!! I am not sure where you are or what you are going through right now – or are going to go through – but I do know that 2017 will contain tests. Just know that God has not forgotten you. Know that He is “in the testing room” even though He may be quiet. Understand that we have a God who is always there and will never leave us nor forsake us (see Hebrews 13:5).

Use Proverbs 3:4-5 as a foundation for your life:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”

Pressing On,

Pastor Tom – Phil 3:14
